Welcome, welcome! Do take a seat. There's some left over pizza on the table. Now, for the first discussion we'll have today is based on a common rumor with veteran gamers (16-21 years-old).
"Nintendo won't survive, because it keeps on making kiddie games, and with kids growing up faster, they'll no longer have a market to sustain themselves."
Now, I'm not a Nintendo fan, however, I have experience with Nintendo, as I've owned and played a Gameboy, and played the Gamecube. This was when I was 9-13 years old. Now that I'm 14, I don't play them as much as I used to (mainly because the Gamecube was of a friend of mine who moved away), however, I'm very fond of my Nintendo gaming experience.
To the rumor, I must say that it's rubbish. 100% rubbish. First of all, Nintendo doesn't make only kiddie like games, it also makes one of the most popular shoot 'em up series: Metroid. Not only that, it's just that people have grown out of the graphics that Nintendo delivers, as do the more powerful consoles (X-Box 360, PC, and the new Play Station 3). Though it is partially true that kids are becoming smarter at a faster rate than that we knew, they still have a childish desire. So what I'm simply saying is that 8-years-old kids can write a very formal speech of over 2 pages, and yet still want to play with action figures and stuff.
It's not that kids are growing up faster, adults are just getting more cynical.
I mean, sure, I prefer the PC and PS 3 (probably even the Wii) over the Gamecube, but that doesn't mean that it sucks. Out of the PS 3, X-Box 360, PSP, and Gamecube (or the Wii), the Gamecube is the only console (as well as the Wii) that is making a profit in the consoles market. Sony and Microsoft are actually losing money in the consoles sections. So even if the Gamecube may be considered as a childish console, it will still be the most popular (along with Wii) for at least a few more years. And that is because it is cheap, it has good graphics, it is less cuber some unlike the PS 3, and it has good games. So when you look in a consoles review in a few months time, don't be surprised if Nintendo is still here.
Okay, I'm glad we've had this nice little chat. Do you want the last slice of pizza? Sure, have it. You'll come by Monday, right?
(PS: Sorry if I said that I would publish this on Friday, but the project is pressing me to add more post faster, so probably there might be a new post tomorrow on Friday)
