Will we get to a point of which nationality won't matter anymore?
First of all, we must consider the exponential growth of technology in itself, and how it can result into having people to take blood tests instead of seeing the passport. Think about it:
Certain people have genes (of which can be examined in blood tests) that can show to authorities whether a person is an ordinarily good-hearted, or if that same person is a cold cruel-hearted fellow.
If we get to that stage, we can be able to throw away our passports into the bin, and have a less hassle of whether you’re an Italian, German, Egyptian, Spanish, Cuban, or American. Terrorism would decrease significantly as the blood tests could easily detect if a person is devoted (or maybe not) to the downfall of a society. And thus, it will also diminish nationality intolerance. So basically someone cannot hate a certain nationality, if nationality has been removed. Clever I would say.
But seriously, nationalities had been but a hinder to our progress into the future, as we spent too much time fighting each other and little time to improve social status and national relationships. Some may counter this by pressing that wars actually help us progress towards the improvement of personal technology (World War II brought us the Jeep) however, does a war improve relationships with all nations? Does it even improve national status in a form of government? Wars happen because of different ideologies, and cultures. Nationalities are those cultures and ideologies, and eliminating the nationalities, we eliminate war within our planet altogether. It is as simple as that.
Another beneficial outcome of these blood tests, we can weed out the poor genes, and get the better genes. So you can take the lazy, evil, and greed genes out of a baby (still in its embryo stage) and add genes of strength, intelligence, and kindness, this also being another way to eliminate war. This creates a superhuman, or enhanced human (which ever you prefer).
So referring to the original question, the best and possibly only answer is yes; we will arrive at a point unto which nationalities will not matter, and we shall end up having perfect humans and global peace, though this may take up to even 10 or 15 years to happen. However, with global peace, we should expect increased progress in cultural and governmental cases, probably reaching to the point of embracing communism (the good kind).
Here are a few links relating to blood tests.

First problem, Giulio. "Good" genes and "bad" genes don't exist. You can't look through the microscope and see a green gene that stands for jealousy.
Now, assuming this were true - which it is not though - let's take a look at the second problem.
Second, and most seriously, 'removing these bad genes'. Big no no. As it is the world is already becoming overpopulated, with famine and a poor standard of life rampant in society. Diseases, and 'bad genes' are nature's way of controlling the balance of life. Make "superhumans" and you destroy that balance.
Fair enough, you'll say "we'll have the super technology to make better food". Think again. All of this is highly theoretical. I see no superhumans, I see no superfood. All of this is pure speculation.
Nice post though.
All of this of which you say Phillip, it is true, and I accept that. However, you must consider the other technological advances we would have made by then, some of which including terraforming technologies (ability to change a planet to suit a particular specie or several) may become a reality, and therefore, making colonization on other planets possible.
Now back on the gene thing. It is true that detecting genes would be difficult, and be able to determine whether it is a good or a bad gene would also be difficult. However, you must speculate this not from our current technological status, but from an improved one, one from the future.
Thanks for the comment, it made me think.
First off, it surprises me that you would say that by doing a simple blood test, one can determine if some one is a "good-hearted" person or a "cruel-hearted" one. This is very debatable, and is rather far-fetched. You also talk about genes of "strength, kindness, and intelligence" that can be inserted into a human embryo. Sorry to contradict you here, but the genes for personality cannot be determined by a blood test or by scrutinizing an amniocentesis test under a microscope. An individual's personality is unique to that one person, and it is mightily difficult to determine personality through lab tests. This means that your argument about terrorism becoming a thing of the past and nationalities not existing anymore is very unprobable and, as I said before, very far-fetched; there is no way in the world that science can toy with human ideology. That is a psychological thing that can be studied, not messed around with . Even with extensive study, psychology is a very mysterious branch of science; therefore, we are not even close to be able to manipulate or determine personality . Interesting ideas though...keep it up.
You make a large mistake in saying that a blood test can reveal personality. No matter how technologically advanced our society becomes, our genes won't ever adapt to suddenly tell about good or bad genes. They can only reveal physical information, NOT psychological. The same mistake is made by saying that we can tell a terrorist by blood. So if someone is born good-hearted, does their blood change when they become a terrorist?! Also, if we ditch nationality, it does not end hate. The Jews before 1945 never had their own country, but were still persecuted throughout history. Pretty much it is a nice post but you need to consult factual sources before making claims.
To lukas,
How do you know that we will never have to adapt to tell us to suddenly tell about good or bad genes? This post was highly hypothetical, meaning that most of this couldn't be proved right here and right now.
You must look of how we evolve in terms of our physical and mental appearance. Expect the unexpected.
I'm glad you gave me that comment.
Good one GIULIO, but focus more on realiy. NO BAD AND GOOD GENES and we still dont know if this will ever happen. This entire work, is on speculation.
Nice..
If your post is hypothetical, make it clear. Your post clearly says " Certain people have genes (of which can be examined in blood tests) that can show to authorities whether a person is an ordinarily good-hearted, or if that same person is a cold cruel-hearted fellow." That is saying that right now it is happening, at now point u use the future tense, or say "maybe it could" you assume facts about our current human nature.
Hey
Good post, with a lot of interesting ideas. However, the concept of being differentiate between a good and bad person by looking at their blood seems highly unlikely.
